Wishes for Tisdale; Indianapolis=America’s 3rd Worst City to be a Sports Fan; ESPN Predictions

I just wanted to extend my best wishes to Wayman Tisdale and his family and friends.  The former Pacer had to have part of his leg amputated because of bone cancer.  No one ever likes to see something like that.  The good thing is that the surgery was successful and he can still play his beloved Jazz.

Forbes Magazine recently ranked Indianapolis as the 3rd worst city in America for sports fans.  I’m not sure if I truly agree with that.  I’ll be talking about this in my next Pacerscast so send me your messages and emails about it.

ESPN already released preliminary predictions for the 2008-09 NBA season.  They have the Pacers 12th of 15 teams in the Eastern Conference.  Despite what you might think, they aren’t too far off.  I’ll be talking about this in the next podcast too so hit me up about where you think the Pacers will finish next season.

The Pacers are the #12 team in the Eastern Conference? No Way! Boston and Orlando should be the top two teams, followed by Detroit and Cleveland (No MVP vote for LeBron - my early prediction is Chris Paul). The Wizards and Miami will not be making the playoffs (they will be right outside). I predict Philly at 5, Atlanta and Indiana jockeying for 6, and Toronto and Milwalkee fighting for 8th (hopefully Toronto). The key for our season - rotation. TJ should play more or less 30 minutes a game, giving him rest and durability. Coach must play Jarrett at the point so that the other gurads can develop and contribute with fresh bodies. Granger and Dunleavy will play considerable minutes, but Rush, Williams (if he’s still here as the season progresses) and Daniels (as long as he plays 2-guard) are capable guards ready to score and defend as long as they get the playing time. As for the big-men, Roy won’t be as great as he will be in 4 years, but he must have the playing time. Troy Murphy? This is your year to shine. I want nothing less than 15 and 8 every game (that’s reasonable, isn’t it?) J. Fost - keep doing what u do - crash the boards and hustle points. Take some open shots, but take wise shots. We will be better than last year, and we will make the playoffs. If we don’t, it will be because of injuries. Let’s go Pacers!!!

Ah man, Jon, where are you? I guess you are busy with other engagements. Hope you get some time to devote to the podcast. I know you gotta be bumming about our humiliating preseason loss to The Hornets. That was ridiculous!!! We need work. I only saw stats of the game, but I saw the box score. I’m making a prediction… Roy Hibbert will somehow be a starter after All Star break. Rasho… i don’t know. In addition, you gotta give us your take on the latest Jamaal activity, or lack thereof. From what I read, the trade helps us by giving us more expiring contracts, which I cannot fume at, but I guess anything is better than no trade. Give us your take on what has been going on. We will be listening.

Here’s a thought I had. In one year, we will be able to sign a free agent, possibly a big one. Since we are looking for a star to put around Danny Granger (he will be our #1 option), I think we should go after LaMarcus Aldridge. He a definite All-Star (if he comes East, potential if he stays West), and he’ll have plenty of room to shine and make a name for himself. With all of our role players, Granger, Aldridge, and Dunleavy (he’s grown on me), supported by Hibbert, Ford, Rush, Foster, and our other role players, we can definitely make a push for a championship. Hopefully, Aldridge is on Larry Bird’s radar. Hope to hear from you VERY SOON Jon.
